🎉 New in Skillit: Sam now integrates with Microsoft Outlook

Craft hiring just got even easier

At Skillit, we’re always looking for ways to eliminate friction and make hiring skilled craft labor as fast and seamless as possible. That’s why we’re excited to announce one of our most requested features: Sam now integrates with Microsoft Outlook.

Sam, our AI-powered scheduling assistant, already helps recruiters spend just 4 minutes for every craft hire made through the platform, down from 40 minutes on average for Indeed.

Now with direct Outlook calendar sync, Sam can manage your interview schedule even more intelligently automatically avoiding conflicts, staying in sync, and working even when you’re offline.

🔄 How it works

Connecting Sam to Outlook takes less than a minute:

  1. Go to Settings > Sam Settings > Calendar Sync

  2. Choose Outlook and follow the prompts

  3. You’re all set—Sam will take it from there

Once connected, Sam will:

  • Schedule interviews in your Outlook calendar without overlapping meetings

  • Reschedule or cancel when needed, keeping your schedule updated

  • Keep everything synced, even if you’re offline or away from your computer

This integration makes Sam feel even more like a true member of your team.

🔐 How we handle calendar access

We know IT teams care deeply about data security and permissions. Here’s a quick summary of what’s happening behind the scenes and how we address common concerns:

✅ What Skillit Stores

  • A secure, encrypted token to sync with Outlook

  • Your name and email

  • For each calendar event:

    • Start time

    • End time

    • Cancellation status

    • We do not store titles, descriptions, or attendee lists.

🔁 What Skillit can do

  • Read your next 2 weeks of calendar events

  • Detect scheduling conflicts

  • Create, update, or cancel events when interviews are scheduled or changed through Sam

If you disconnect your calendar, Skillit revokes access and deletes the stored token immediately.

🛡 Common IT questions (and our answers)

“Do we have to give Skillit access to the whole org’s calendar?”

No. Skillit uses delegated access. Recruiters only connect their own calendars. No tenant-wide permissions required.

“What if our users can’t approve apps themselves?”

An admin can pre-approve access scopes via Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) under Enterprise Applications.

“What calendar data do you store?”

Only what’s needed to avoid scheduling conflicts: start time, end time, and cancellation status. We do not store any event content or participant info.

“How can we revoke access?”

Recruiters can disconnect in Skillit settings. Admins can revoke centrally in Microsoft Entra.

“Can we audit who’s connected?”

Yes, Skillit logs every connection and sync. These actions also appear in your Microsoft audit logs.

⚙️ What’s next?

We’re building deeper integrations to bring Sam closer to where your craft recruiting teams works every day, including future capabilities in Teams, Outlook, Gmail and more.
