January product updates: Smarter per diem hiring + clearer availability

Hiring in construction is all about speed and certainty, especially when you’re ramping up quickly. That’s why Skillit is rolling out two updates that make it easier to find the right workers and focus your outreach on people who are actually ready to go.

More flexible per diem search

Per diem search used to be nationwide only. Now, you can search for workers open to per diem in a way that matches how you really hire, with three choices: 1. within a 500-mile radius, 2. statewide, or 3. nationally. That means you can zero in on candidates who are most likely to travel to your jobsite, without sorting through people who are technically open to per diem, but realistically too far away. By providing more granular candidate options for per diem hiring, Skillit is making it easier than ever to quickly find the right candidates that fit your needs.

See who’s actually available

Skillit has also made it easier to spot active, ready-to-work candidates. Search results now include a freshness column so you can quickly see when a worker last updated their profile. You can still see how recently the worker joined Skillit—recency usually leads to higher contact rates—but you can also see the last time they were active on the Skillit platform. This will surface eager candidates, ready to get started. Plus, we’re deprioritizing workers who were recently hired on Skillit, helping you avoid wasted outreach to people who just accepted another offer and helping keep your recent hires out of competitor searches. This is also a reason to make sure you mark candidates as “hired” on the Skillit platform, so we know who to deprioritize.

These updates are designed to help you find quality, ready-to-work candidates faster, reduce dead ends, and fill per diem roles with confidence. Log in and try them out. Your next great hire might be closer than you think.
