Carpenter — Building Services Technician
About This Role
Join our Austin team as a Building Services Technician performing facility maintenance, repairs, and minor commercial construction. This hands-on role is for experienced carpenters who can run jobs from diagnosis to finish work, handle client contact, and keep work areas safe and organized. You’ll work on specialized commercial projects doing rough and finish carpentry, painting, basic concrete repairs, and general facility troubleshooting. The right candidate is self-motivated, safety-focused, able to work independently, and comfortable communicating with clients and supervisors on site.
What You'll Do
- • Perform rough and finish carpentry: framing, trim, doors/hardware, cabinet work, and basic formwork.
- • Complete painting, basic concrete repair, and finishing tasks to company and code standards.
- • Diagnose facility issues, estimate materials, source vendors, and manage small repair budgets.
- • Follow OSHA and site safety protocols, use PPE, maintain clean, hazard-free work areas, and perform site cleanup.
- • Communicate directly with clients, supervisors, and team members to coordinate scope, timelines, and handoffs.
- • Organize daily tasks, track time and materials, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
What We're Looking For
- • 3+ years commercial carpentry or facilities maintenance experience (rough & finish carpentry required).
- • Comfortable with physical demands: lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, working on scaffolds, and confined spaces.
- • Working knowledge of building codes, ADA standards, and commercial-grade materials.
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- • Proficient with basic technology: smartphone/tablet, email, scheduling apps, and digital work orders.
- • Reliable attendance, ability to work flexible hours, and strong on-site communication skills.
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED preferred.
- • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- • OSHA 10 safety card preferred (or equivalent safety training).
- • Forklift or aerial lift certification a plus.
- • Willingness to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- • Valid driver's license and proof of insurability.
What We Offer
- • Competitive pay (based on experience) with opportunities for overtime.
- • Health insurance options and paid time off (details provided at interview).
- • Tool allowance or reimbursement and PPE/safety gear provided.
- • On-the-job training and support for trade certifications.
- • Stable, commercial project schedules and clear dispatching to job sites.
