Civil Concrete Carpenter
About this role
Join a civil construction crew in San Antonio building and aligning formwork for foundations, walls, slabs and other structural elements. This hands-on, full-time role focuses on precise layout, safe form installation, and ensuring concrete placement meets project specifications. Day-to-day you’ll read plans and specs, build/set/brace/strip forms, verify levels/grades/elevations, and coordinate with other trades on-site. Experienced carpenters may lead complex layouts, mentor helpers, and help drive quality and safe work practices in the field.
What you'll do
- • Construct, set, brace and strip formwork for slabs, walls, footings, columns and related structures
- • Perform layout and alignment checks: verify levels, dimensions, grades and elevations to drawings
- • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documents for accurate build
- • Install bulkheads, embeds and accessories required for concrete placement and finishing
- • Operate hand and power tools safely; maintain tools, equipment and a clean, organized work area
- • Coordinate with concrete crews and other trades to ensure safe, timely concrete pours and quality control
What we're looking for
- • Previous experience as a concrete carpenter or form builder on civil construction projects
- • Skilled in form building, installation, bracing and stripping for slabs, walls and footings
- • Able to read and interpret civil drawings, layouts, grades, elevations and specifications
- • Physically able to lift heavy materials and work in a demanding outdoor field environment
- • Strong attention to detail, quality control mindset and problem‑solving on site
- • Commitment to safe work practices and ability to work as part of a crew; lead or mentor less‑experienced helpers when needed
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred
- • NCCER or carpentry/trade school certification preferred
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
- • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • Minimum 2+ years concrete/formwork experience on civil projects
- • Spanish language skills helpful but not required
