Commercial Carpenter — Doors & Millwork
About This Role
Carpenter needed in Fulton, MD to install commercial doors, frames, hardware and architectural millwork on active project sites. You’ll handle AWW, PL and metal casework, fume hoods, DFH and miscellaneous specialties. This role is for mechanically inclined finish carpenters with 3–5 years of field experience who can work safely and independently. You’ll preplan each assignment for tools, materials and the safest, most efficient installation method. Follow the site safety program, bring your own hand tools, read blueprints, climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs. Reliable attendance and attention to detail are required.
What You'll Do
- • Install commercial doors, frames, hardware and architectural millwork including AWW, PL & metal casework, fume hoods, DFH and miscellaneous specialties
- • Pre-plan each installation: determine tools, materials and methods to maximize safety and efficiency
- • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and cutlists to lay out work and verify dimensions
- • Follow and actively contribute to the site safety program (use Stop Work Authority, report hazards, follow safety procedures)
- • Supply and maintain personal hand tools and basic layout equipment; keep work area clean and organized
- • Work with minimal supervision, coordinate with trades on site, and complete assigned tasks on schedule
What We're Looking For
- • 3–5 years finished carpentry experience with commercial doors, casework or architectural millwork
- • Proven ability to read blueprints, technical drawings and job-site layouts
- • Mechanically inclined with experience installing casework, plastic laminate and architectural millwork
- • Able to climb ladders/scaffolds, stoop, kneel and lift/carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- • Supply personal hand tools and basic layout tools; reliable transportation to Fulton, MD job site
- • Work safely, follow site safety rules, and work independently with good communication skills
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- • 3–5 years of finished carpentry experience on commercial projects
- • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- • OSHA 10 hour or equivalent safety training preferred
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job site
- • Union membership where applicable / able to join if required
