Doors, Frames & Hardware Installer — Carpenter
About this role
Join a fast-moving commercial carpentry crew in Nashville installing doors, frames and hardware. This full-time role spends time in the shop and on job sites fitting commercial doors, setting frames, installing locks and hinges, and performing basic welding and prep work to meet project schedules and quality standards. You’ll travel to multiple sites in the Nashville area, follow plans and manufacturer literature, create daily pre-task plans, protect finished surfaces, and work with a small team to keep workflow moving. Commercial door experience and a solid eye for finish work are required.
What you'll do
- • Install commercial doors, frames and hardware (locks, hinges, closers) from basic to intermediate-level openings
- • Read and interpret diagrams, plans, templates and manufacturer literature to lay out openings and hardware locations
- • Perform basic welding and prep work on metal frames; repair and patch dents/dings with Bondo and protect finishes
- • Handle and hang prefinished doors safely; follow hanging sequence and degree-of-opening requirements for each opening
- • Create daily Pre-Task Plans, coordinate shop-to-site workflow, and visit multiple job sites as needed
- • Maintain clean work areas, protect finished surfaces, and communicate progress/issues with crew leads and foremen
What we're looking for
- • 3–5 years commercial door/frame/hardware installation experience preferred; commercial doors experience REQUIRED
- • Ability to read plans, templates and manufacturer literature and translate them to field layout
- • Proven skill with hand tools, battery-powered drills and hardware installations; understand finish touch and fastener torque
- • Basic welding skills and frame prep experience required
- • Reliable transportation around the Nashville area and ability to travel to multiple sites in a day
- • Able to lift heavy materials, work on ladders/scaffolds and stand for long periods
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- • 3–5 years commercial door/frame/hardware installation experience (preferred)
- • Basic welding skills and experience prepping metal frames (required)
- • Comfortable reading plans, templates and manufacturer literature
- • Able to lift 50+ lbs, work safely on ladders/scaffolds and follow site safety rules
- • English required for reading plans; Spanish language skills a plus
