Carpenter — Doors, Frames & Hardware (Austin, TX)
About this role
We’re hiring a hands-on Carpenter in Austin to install, adjust, and maintain doors, frames and hardware on commercial and institutional projects. This role focuses on accurate layout, solid installations, and reliable hardware function — you’ll be on-site measuring, fitting, aligning, and troubleshooting components to meet specs and code. Expect a steady construction schedule with day-to-day tasks that include hanging doors, setting frames, installing trim and panels, and servicing locks and closers. You’ll work with a crew, follow site safety rules, and use common carpentry tools and hardware templates to deliver quality results.
What you'll do
- • Install metal and wood door frames and hang interior and exterior doors to plan specifications
- • Fit, adjust, and maintain door hardware — locks, closers, hinges, and panic devices — ensuring proper alignment and function
- • Measure, cut, and install trim, panels, thresholds and stops to achieve clean finishes
- • Read and follow plans, shop drawings, and hardware schedules; mark and lay out door openings
- • Maintain tools and jobsite housekeeping; report defects or installation issues and coordinate repairs
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience installing doors, frames and commercial hardware
- • Skilled in trim, paneling and finish carpentry with strong measuring and layout ability
- • Proficient with hand and power tools used in door and hardware installation
- • Ability to read plans, hardware schedules and follow installation instructions
- • Physically able to lift and position heavy frames and doors, work on ladders and scaffolding, and stand for long periods
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10-hour construction safety card preferred
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
- • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- • Experience with commercial hardware sets and familiarity with manufacturers' templates
- • Spanish language skills a plus
What we offer
- • Consistent day-shift schedule with potential for overtime
- • Health and dental plan options
- • Paid time off and holiday pay
- • Tool and boot allowance or reimbursement
- • Site-specific training and opportunities for skills advancement
