Carpenter — Formwork & Heavy Construction
About This Role
Join a small crew working out of Black Mountain/Asheville, NC as a Carpenter on building, highway, bridge and heavy construction projects. You’ll build and set formwork, operate saws and power tools, erect scaffolding and work on concrete pours. This role is hands-on, physical, and requires reliable attendance and the ability to work at heights. Two positions available. Expect long, flexible hours (including nights and weekends), occasional overnight travel, and work outside in all seasons. Pay is competitive and based on experience; candidates must be 21+ with reliable transportation and proven formwork experience.
What You'll Do
- • Operate hand and power tools (saws, drills, hammers, pneumatic tools) to cut, shape and install formwork and temporary structures
- • Construct, position, align and secure stick-built or manufactured form systems for concrete pours
- • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps and other temporary structures
- • Mix, pour, spread and finish concrete; load/unload materials and assist equipment operators as needed
- • Prepare and clean job sites, dig/backfill trenches, compact to grade, and remove debris to maintain a safe work area
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience constructing formwork for concrete on building, highway, or bridge projects
- • Comfortable working at heights and near/over water; not afraid of heavy physical work
- • Able to lift and move heavy materials frequently (over 80 lbs) and work outdoors in all weather
- • Reliable transportation to job site and willingness to travel/overnight when required
- • Available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when project demands it
Qualifications
- • Minimum age: 21 years
- • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- • OSHA 10-hour card preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
- • English proficiency for safe onsite communication and following instructions
