Concrete Carpenter — Formwork

About This Role

Experienced concrete carpenters needed in Cedar Rapids, IA to build, set and strip concrete forms for commercial and government projects. This is hands‑on, physical work — you’ll layout, assemble and secure formwork, check tolerances to drawings, and work with the crew to get pours done right and on time. Pay is up to $25/hr and this is a per diem position. You must be comfortable reading construction drawings, handling rebar and form hardware, and working in varied weather. Teamwork, reliability, and attention to quality are required.

What You'll Do

• • Build, set up and strip concrete forms for slabs, walls and footings
• • Read and interpret construction drawings, specs and site layout for accurate form placement
• • Measure, layout and assemble form components; install ties, bracing and shoring
• • Collaborate with crew members and concrete crews during placement and finishing
• • Perform basic concrete finishing, curing protection and concrete repair as directed

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience in concrete formwork carpentry and general concrete work
• • Ability to read and interpret civil and construction drawings on site
• • Skilled with measuring, layout, rigging, frame & brace scaffolding and system scaffolding
• • Experience with concrete placement, finishing, curing and protection in varied conditions
• • Able to work a full schedule, perform site inspections, and follow time/material management and work schedules

Qualifications

• • Bilingual: Spanish and English (required)
• • Minimum 3 years’ experience in concrete formwork carpentry or related concrete trades
• • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain on hire
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; must be able to travel to job sites
• • Ability to pass background and drug screen; physically able to lift heavy materials and work in all weather
