Journeyman Concrete Carpenter

About this role

Join an industrial power project in Vicksburg, MS as a Journeyman Concrete Carpenter. This is day shift work on a 5x10 schedule with a $700/week per diem. We're looking for experienced concrete carpenters who can run formwork in a heavy industrial setting. You must have at least 5 years of industrial construction experience with concrete formwork, be able to read and visualize prints in 3D, and work safely around crews and equipment. Candidates must pass pre-access drug/alcohol and fit-for-duty testing and be prepared for physically demanding site conditions.

What you'll do

  • Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans and specifications; visualize structures in three dimensions from plans.
  • Build, erect, install and repair concrete formwork, scaffolding and framework using hand and power tools.
  • Measure, cut, assemble and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts; pour and finish concrete to spec.
  • Erect built-in-place or prefabricated forms, insert spreaders/tie-rods, and brace forms to maintain dimensions.
  • Inspect subordinate work for compliance with plans/specs, point out deficiencies and take corrective action.
  • Estimate sizes, distances and material needs for assigned tasks and coordinate work with crew and supervision.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years industrial construction experience with heavy concrete formwork
  • Able to read and interpret prints, layouts and specifications and communicate with supervision
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools and layout/measurement tools used in formwork carpentry
  • Able to work on feet all day, climb ladders/scaffolds, work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Capable of lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, work in noisy/dusty conditions and handle irregular hours if needed
  • Must pass pre-access drug/alcohol and fit-for-duty testing and have all required personal tools

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial concrete formwork experience
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing and fit-for-duty evaluations
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license may be required; must supply required personal tools
  • Able to read and communicate in English well enough to follow plans and safety instructions
