Journeyman Concrete Carpenter
About This Role
Industrial power project in Vicksburg, MS seeking an experienced Journeyman Concrete Carpenter. This is day shift, 5x10s work at $34/hr plus $700 weekly per diem. Rehires may be eligible for additional incentive pay. You will work on heavy concrete formwork and related tasks on-site. Expect a physically demanding environment, variable site conditions, and required pre-access drug and fit-for-duty testing. Must have 5+ years of industrial construction experience with strong concrete formwork skills and your own basic tools.
What You'll Do
- • Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans and specifications; visualize structures in three dimensions from plans.
- • Build, erect, install and repair concrete formwork, scaffolding and temporary framework using hand and power tools.
- • Measure, cut, assemble and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts; pour and finish concrete to specs.
- • Erect built-in-place forms or assemble prefabricated forms; install spreaders, tie-rods, bracing and anchors to maintain dimensions.
- • Inspect subordinate work for compliance with plans/specs, point out deficiencies and take corrective action.
- • Estimate sizes, distances and materials needed for tasks; communicate needs to supervision and crew.
What We're Looking For
- • 5+ years industrial construction experience with emphasis on concrete formwork and heavy concrete placement.
- • Ability to read prints, drawings and specifications and perform layout from plans.
- • Proficient with hand and power tools, layout tools, and concrete finishing tools; must have required personal tools.
- • Able to work at heights, climb scaffolds/ladders, work on uneven surfaces and in confined areas; lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- • Flexible to work day shift 5x10s; may require overtime, irregular hours and weekend work.
- • Ability to pass pre-access drug/alcohol testing and fit-for-duty testing; meet site safety requirements.
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED preferred
- • 5+ years documented industrial concrete formwork/carpentry experience
- • Must have and maintain required personal carpenter/concrete tools
- • Ability to pass pre-access drug/alcohol screening and fit-for-duty testing
- • Valid U.S. driver's license may be required
- • English — able to read plans and communicate with crew and supervision
