Carpenter Journeyman & Laborer
About This Role
Carpenter journeymen and general laborers needed for multiple active jobsites across Washington, DC. You’ll perform hands-on carpentry and general labor tasks—framing, trim, cabinet and countertop installation, scaffolding work, and basic finish work—working alongside a crew to get the job done right and on time. Ideal candidates are comfortable with hand tools, can read basic drawings, follow site safety rules, and apply common construction procedures. This is steady, physical work across multiple DC locations with opportunities for overtime and advancement for reliable, skilled carpenters.
What You'll Do
- • Perform general carpentry: rough and finish framing, trim, stair and floor framing, and concrete formwork as assigned
- • Measure, mark and cut materials; install doors, windows, cabinetry, countertops, trim and paneling
- • Set up and work from scaffolding systems safely; assist with steel and metal framing for interior partitions and nonbearing exterior work
- • Follow site safety rules, use PPE, and maintain tools and small equipment; report hazards and conduct basic work inspections
- • Read and interpret drawings and plans for layout, site layout, and work schedule development; communicate progress with foremen and crew
- • Assist with excavation/trench work, crane signaling, and other general labor tasks as required on multisite jobs
What We're Looking For
- • Proven hands-on carpentry experience with bench, finish and rough carpentry tasks
- • Skilled with hand and basic power tools; accurate measuring, cutting and layout skills
- • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and plans
- • Experience with cabinet installation, countertop installation, door/hardware installation, and trim work
- • Comfortable working on scaffolding and performing general site labor (flooring, framing, blocking)
- • Able to work full days on jobsite, follow directions, and collaborate with a crew; reliable attendance and punctuality
Qualifications
- • Journeyman-level carpentry experience or equivalent on-the-job experience
- • Ability to read construction drawings and perform layout work
- • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain on hire
- • Crane signaling or rigging certification preferred (or willing to train)
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to DC jobsites
- • Ability to pass basic background and drug screening; physical ability to lift, climb and work at heights
