Carpenter Lead — Doors, Frames & Hardware

Mableton, GA $22-$28/hr

About this role

Lead hands-on commercial door, frame and hardware (DFH) installations on projects in Mableton, GA. You will run crews, manage daily layout and installations, and ensure openings meet code and contract requirements. Schedule is full-time on-site; occasional overtime and travel between local jobs may be required. This is a working lead role — you’ll be installing hollow metal and wood doors, welded and knock‑down frames, closers, panic devices, locks and electrified hardware while training and mentoring installers and apprentices. You’ll coordinate with GCs, superintendents and other trades, perform accurate field measuring and prep, and quickly troubleshoot problems in the field.

What you'll do

  • Lead and perform installation of commercial doors, frames and hardware (hinges, strikes, closers, panic devices, electrified hardware).
  • Layout openings, prepare door and frame prep, and make field modifications to meet plan and code requirements.
  • Run crews on-site: assign tasks, monitor productivity, enforce safety, and keep the project on schedule.
  • Read and follow construction drawings, door schedules and hardware schedules; verify materials and quantities.
  • Troubleshoot field issues (frames out of plumb, bad openings, incorrect hardware) and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, superintendents, suppliers and other trades; maintain jobsite documentation and sign-in sheets.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience installing commercial doors, frames and hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of hollow metal & wood doors, welded and knock‑down frames, and door hardware installation.
  • Experience with Von Duprin panic hardware, LCN closers, Hager hinges and common electrified hardware.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, door schedules and hardware schedules.
  • Proven ability to lead crews, delegate work, train apprentices and maintain productivity.
  • Own basic hand tools, comfortable with power and layout tools; ability to lift 75+ lbs and operate lifts preferred.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (or willing to obtain)
  • Forklift, scissor lift or lull training preferred
  • CPR and First Aid preferred
  • Familiarity with ACSI and SDI standards; DHI COR101 recommended
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Fluent in English; Spanish language skills a plus

What we offer

  • Health, dental and vision options available
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Training and certification support (OSHA, forklift, scissor/boom lifts)
  • Opportunities for advancement and hands-on leadership experience
  • Stable, steady work with predictable schedules and local travel reimbursement where applicable
