Lead Carpenter — Doors, Frames & Hardware

Mableton, GA $24-$32/hr

About This Role

Lead commercial door, frame and hardware (DFH) installer based in Mableton, GA. You’ll run DFH installations on commercial projects—measure, layout, prep, install and troubleshoot hollow metal and wood doors, welded and knock-down frames, closers, panic hardware, locks and electrified hardware. Pay range $24–$32/hr depending on experience. You will run crews, delegate daily tasks, train apprentices, coordinate with GCs and other trades, and maintain quality and productivity on site. This is a hands-on lead role: bring your tools, lead by example, and solve field issues (out-of-plumb frames, bad openings, hardware problems) without guesswork.

What You'll Do

  • Install and fit commercial hollow metal and wood doors, welded and knock-down frames, and associated hardware (closers, panic devices, locks, electrified hardware).
  • Perform accurate field layout, door prep (hinges, strikes, closers, stops) and final adjustments; read and follow door & hardware schedules and construction drawings.
  • Lead on-site DFH crews: assign tasks, track productivity, maintain time/sign-in sheets and keep projects on schedule.
  • Troubleshoot field issues (frame plumb, damaged openings, misaligned hardware) and perform field modifications to meet code and finish requirements.
  • Coordinate daily with GCs, superintendents and other trades for access, sequencing and inspections.
  • Train and mentor installers and apprentices; enforce best practices, safety and quality control on every job.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years commercial doors, frames & hardware installation experience (commercial DFH).
  • Proven hands-on experience with hollow metal & wood doors, welded & knock-down frames, and hardware: Von Duprin, LCN, Hager or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, door & hardware schedules and perform precise field layout—no guesswork.
  • Proven ability to run crews on site, delegate tasks, maintain productivity and meet project schedules.
  • Must have basic hand tools; comfortable using power tools, layout tools and doing heavy lifting (75+ lbs.).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to operate lifts (forklift/scissor/boom) preferred.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred or willing to obtain.
  • DHI COR101 recommended (or willingness to obtain).
  • Forklift and scissor/boom lift training preferred (Lull training a plus).
  • CPR and First Aid preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual: English required, Spanish preferred.

What We Offer

  • Pay range $24–$32 per hour based on experience.
  • Steady commercial project work with opportunities for overtime.
  • On-the-job training and certification support (OSHA/DHI course assistance where needed).
  • Clear lead role with mentoring and advancement for motivated installers.
  • Tool and equipment expectation communicated up front; reimbursement or allowances may be available for required certifications.
  • Work with experienced crews and multiple commercial contractors—good experience for career growth.
