About this role

Join a busy commercial carpentry crew in Washington, DC installing high-level millwork, casework, and specialty metalwork. You’ll focus on accurate installations of AWW, plastic laminate and metal casework, fume hoods, DFH, and other specialty items on commercial job sites. You’ll preplan tools and materials for each install, read and interpret blueprints, work with minimal supervision, and follow the site safety program every day. This role is hands-on and physical — expect ladder work, lifting up to 50 lbs, and using your personal carpentry tools on site.

What you'll do

  • Install AWW, plastic laminate (PL), metal casework, fume hoods, DFH, and miscellaneous specialty items on commercial job sites.
  • Preplan tools, materials, and installation methods for efficient, safe installations; coordinate sequencing with trades on site.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and installation instructions to ensure accurate fit and finish.
  • Perform finish carpentry tasks: cabinet and countertop installation, trim/paneling, door and hardware fit, and site adjustments.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and return tools/materials at end of shift; report material shortages or defects.
  • Follow site safety procedures, report hazards or incidents, and use Stop Work Authority when necessary to prevent unsafe conditions.

What we're looking for

  • 3–5 years experience as a finished carpenter with commercial millwork or casework experience.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Experience with plastic laminate, architectural millwork, cabinet and countertop installation, and trim work.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and coordinate with other trades on site.
  • Supply and maintain your own basic personal carpentry tools; use of pneumatic tools and measuring equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3–5 years finished carpentry or millwork experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred (able to communicate on site).
  • Able to climb ladders, stoop/kneel/crouch, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Supply personal carpentry tools and be able to work with minimal supervision; union membership where applicable.

What we offer

  • Steady commercial project work in Washington, DC with clear daily scope and onsite direction.
  • Overtime opportunities and predictable schedules for experienced carpenters.
  • Site-provided PPE and site-specific safety training; a safety-focused work environment.
  • Tool reimbursement or allowance where applicable and support for specialty tool needs.
  • Union benefits where applicable and opportunities to work with experienced millwork crews.
