Concrete Carpenter Journeyman

About This Role

Experienced Concrete Carpenter Journeyman needed for industrial and power plant projects in Abilene, TX. You’ll work hands-on building and bracing forms, installing rebar and embeds, pouring and finishing concrete, and inspecting work to meet plan specifications and safety standards. This is a per diem position with travel to local project sites. We need a dependable journeyman who reads blueprints well, leads a small crew when required, and follows strict industrial safety procedures. Expect long shifts, overtime on occasion, and work at heights and in confined spaces.

What You'll Do

• • Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans and specifications; visualize three-dimensional structures from plans
• • Measure, cut, assemble and install built-in-place and prefabricated wooden forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts
• • Erect, brace and plumb forms using spreaders, tie-rods, cables, timber and hardware to maintain specified dimensions
• • Pour, screed and finish concrete surfaces to specification; ensure smooth handoffs for follow-on trades
• • Inspect work for quality and compliance with plans; identify deficiencies and take corrective action
• • Work safely on industrial sites, including at heights, on scaffolds/manlifts and in confined spaces

What We're Looking For

• • Journeyman-level experience as a concrete/formwork carpenter in power plant or heavy industrial settings
• • Proven ability to read and follow blueprints, technical drawings and written instructions
• • Skilled with hand and power tools, layout tools, measurement devices and concrete finishing techniques
• • Experience installing rebar, embeds and anchor bolts and assembling both built-in-place and prefabricated forms
• • Able to work at heights, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks for full shifts
• • Willingness to work irregular hours, weekends and overtime as project needs require

Qualifications

• • Minimum 3+ years concrete/formwork journeyman experience in industrial or power plant projects
• • Ability to pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing, fit-for-duty medical exam and background check
• • Own basic carpenter’s tool set required
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
• • OSHA 10 or 30, confined space entry and fall protection training preferred
• • Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
