Carpenter - Forney, TX
About This Role
Join a construction crew in Forney, TX as a Carpenter. You’ll build and repair wood and wallboard fixtures, set up trailers and site systems, and perform both rough and finish carpentry to meet local building codes. Work includes reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, installing doors, frames, cabinetry, and handling prefabricated components. This is hands-on work on active sites — building decks, stairs, roofs, forming and pouring concrete, setting up erosion control and tool trailers, and assisting journeymen and foremen with grades and elevations. You’ll work with a diverse team to deliver safe, accurate, and timely site setups and building components.
What You'll Do
- • Read blueprints, sketches and plans; measure and mark materials for cutting and assembly
- • Set up trailers, tool conexes, silt fences, straw bales and site layouts per erosion control plans
- • Build and install decks, stairs, roofs, doors, frames, millwork and cabinetry; hang and finish drywall
- • Hand-set and assemble forms, assist with concrete placement and structural formwork
- • Unload, handle, stockpile and erect prefabricated materials and site systems
- • Work with team members and supervisors to meet layout, grade and elevation requirements; keep site clean and safe
What We're Looking For
- • High school diploma or GED
- • Minimum 2 years hands-on carpentry experience (rough and finish carpentry)
- • Ability to read and interpret drawings, measure accurately, and visualize finished components
- • Comfort with repetitive hand/arm/leg movements and lifting up to 50 lbs (assistance/equipment for heavier lifts)
- • Good communication and teamwork skills; follow instructions and work safely to meet codes
- • Willingness to perform site-specific tasks, assist with concrete work and work outdoors in variable conditions
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • Minimum 2 years carpentry experience (rough & finish)
- • Trade or technical school certificate/diploma preferred
- • Able to read blueprints and perform site layout and measuring
- • Proficient in English (speak and understand) for safety and crew communication
- • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship; OSHA 10 preferred
