Journeyman Carpenter

Denver, CO $28-$36/hr

About this role

Join a Denver-based construction crew as a Journeyman Carpenter performing rough and finished carpentry on building and repair projects. You’ll work on framing, trim, doors, floors, cabinets, windows and other fixtures while ensuring layouts and structures are true to plans. This role supervises laborers and apprentices on site, uses a full range of hand and power tools, reads blueprints and project specs, and follows site safety and quality procedures. Typical work is project-based across the Denver area with varied outdoor and indoor conditions.

What you'll do

  • Perform rough and finished carpentry: measure, cut, join and install wood, drywall, panels, doors, floors, cabinets and trim.
  • Frame walls and structures; set and align forms, scaffolds and roof supports; erect and secure temporary bracing.
  • Install windows and flashing systems, fixtures and prefabricated components to protect against water intrusion.
  • Use and maintain power and hand tools (saws, drills, nail guns, levels, planes, sanding machines) safely and effectively.
  • Supervise and train laborers, helpers and apprentices; read blueprints and project plans to lay out work and verify dimensions and plumb/level accuracy.

What we're looking for

  • Current Journeyman Carpenter license/certificate where required by jurisdiction, and minimum 1 year experience as a journeyman carpenter or similar role.
  • Proficient reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches and project layouts; strong measuring and layout skills.
  • Comfortable using a wide range of hand and power tools; able to maintain and repair common carpentry tools.
  • Physically able to lift/pull 50 lbs., climb and work off ladders and lifts, and maintain standing, squatting, bending or kneeling for extended periods.
  • Follow all site safety practices (OSHA rules and site-specific training), maintain a safe work area, and model safe behavior for crew members.

Qualifications

  • NCCER certification (required)
  • Journeyman carpenter license/certificate where required by state, city or county
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a journeyman carpenter or equivalent field experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Proficient English reading skills for plans and safety documentation
