Cement Mason / Finisher — Montgomery, AL

About this role

We’re hiring experienced cement masons/finishers in Montgomery, AL to perform concrete placement and finishing on commercial and public works projects. This role focuses on slabs, sidewalks, curbs, and other flatwork where quality surface finish and proper curing matter. You’ll work on-site with crew members to meet project schedules, follow layout and grade, and deliver durable, finished surfaces. Ideal candidates are hands-on, dependable, and skilled at both finishing techniques and concrete placement tasks.

What you'll do

• • Perform concrete placement, screeding, and leveling for slabs, sidewalks, ramps, and flatwork
• • Finish surfaces using hand and power tools (floats, trowels, power trowels, edging and jointers) to specified textures and tolerances
• • Set forms, strike off, consolidate, and float concrete; cut and tool control joints and edges
• • Monitor and apply curing methods and protection to ensure surface quality and durability
• • Mix and handle concrete, operate mixers and pumping assistance as required, and maintain proper slump/consistency
• • Work with site crews to read layouts/grades, meet schedule demands, maintain a clean work area, and report quality or safety concerns

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience with concrete placement/pouring and concrete finishing on slabs, sidewalks, and flatwork
• • Skilled in concrete finishing techniques: floating, troweling, edging, broom/texture finishes, and control joints
• • Knowledge of concrete mixing, slump control, consolidation, and curing/protection practices
• • Able to read basic layout and grade information and work from stake/grade or screed elevations
• • Physically fit for repetitive lifting, standing, and kneeling; able to handle tools and equipment used in flatwork
• • Reliable attendance, team-oriented attitude, and ability to follow site safety rules and directions

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10 or equivalent site safety training preferred
• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Montgomery-area job sites
• • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check as required by project
• • Comfortable communicating in English on the jobsite for instructions and safety communication
• • Proven track record as a mason/finisher on commercial or municipal projects (references recommended)
