Cement Mason/Finisher — Montgomery, AL
About This Role
Seeking experienced cement masons/finishers in Montgomery, Alabama to handle concrete placement and finishing on commercial and residential projects. You’ll work on slabs, sidewalks, curbs, and other flatwork — setting forms, pouring, leveling and producing a quality finish. This is hands-on field work with steady hours and opportunities for overtime. You’ll work with small site crews, follow project schedules, and be expected to produce durable, well-finished surfaces that meet specifications and curing requirements.
What You'll Do
- • Set forms, screed and level concrete for slabs, sidewalks, curbs and other flatwork
- • Place, pour and consolidate concrete; operate bull float, trowel, edger and hand tools to achieve specified finish
- • Perform concrete repair, jointing, and finishing details to meet surface tolerance and appearance standards
- • Monitor and apply proper curing and protection methods to ensure strength and surface quality
- • Coordinate with site crews, read basic plans/grade stakes, and help maintain a clean, safe work area
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience in concrete placement, finishing and flatwork (sidewalks, slabs, paving)
- • Skill with concrete mixing, pouring techniques, finishing tools and jointing
- • Knowledge of concrete curing, protection and repair methods
- • Ability to read basic layouts, follow grade and line, and work from instructions and plans
- • Physically capable of lifting, kneeling, and working outdoors in varied weather; reliable attendance and punctuality
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- • OSHA 10-hour preferred or equivalent safety training
- • High school diploma or GED or equivalent field experience
- • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • Spanish-speaking or bilingual crew members are a plus
