Heavy Civil Concrete Foreman

Huntsville, AL

About This Role

Hands-on foreman role leading concrete crews on heavy civil projects across North Alabama. You’ll run day-to-day field operations — set layouts, manage formwork and pours, operate equipment as needed, and keep projects moving safely and on schedule. Travel to project sites in North Alabama is required. This job is for a working foreman who can lead by example, read civil drawings, enforce safety, coordinate materials and subcontractors, and handle site cleanup and excavation tasks. If you’re experienced with concrete placement, form carpentry, and crew management, this is a steady, field-first role with travel and overtime opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and lead concrete crews on heavy civil projects: assign tasks, monitor productivity, and train crew members
  • Set site layout from civil drawings, verify elevations, and ensure correct form and rebar placement before pours
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute concrete pours and finishing; manage placement, consolidation, and curing methods
  • Operate and/or coordinate heavy equipment for excavation, trenching, material handling, and concrete operations
  • Enforce safety procedures, maintain daily reports/timecards, and handle site cleanup and demolition as needed
  • Coordinate materials, subcontractors, inspections, and communicate progress with project management

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on heavy civil concrete experience, including formwork and concrete placement
  • Proven experience as a working foreman or lead on civil projects with crew management responsibilities
  • Able to read and interpret civil drawings, construction plans, and site layout requirements
  • Experience operating or coordinating heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, concrete pumps) and excavation/trench work
  • Strong safety focus — enforce OSHA rules and jobsite safety procedures at all times
  • Able to travel to multiple North Alabama project sites and work overtime when required

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; Class A CDL preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must pass drug/alcohol screening and background check
  • Ability to communicate in English on the jobsite; bilingual (Spanish) a plus

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay with overtime opportunities
  • Per diem or travel pay for out-of-area jobs and consistent project travel
  • Health and dental insurance options
  • 401(k) or retirement plan (details provided on interview)
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Tool/boot allowance and safety gear provided
