Tower Crane Operator
About This Role
Operate a tower crane on commercial construction sites in Austin, TX. You’ll hoist materials per signalman direction, supervise field crews, and maintain strict safety practices while working at heights. This role demands attention, good communication, and steady hands in a physically demanding job. You will be expected to attend required safety and company trainings, follow lift plans and signaling protocols, and keep the worksite safe and efficient. Prior tower crane experience and NCCCO certification are required; OSHA 10 must be completed within 90 days of hire.
What You'll Do
- • Hoist and place materials using a tower crane according to signalman/lift plan directions.
- • Supervise and coordinate field labor and rigging crews during lifts.
- • Perform pre-shift and daily crane inspections; report and tag out issues.
- • Follow established signaling, lift-planning and multi-crane procedures to ensure safe lifts.
- • Attend mandatory safety meetings and training (toolbox talks, Harvey training as required).
- • Use required PPE and fall protection; maintain situational awareness on active sites.
What We're Looking For
- • Current NCCCO (tower crane) certification required.
- • Prior tower crane operating experience on commercial sites; proven competence in critical lifts.
- • Ability to read and follow lift plans, signals and verbal/written instructions in English; Spanish preferred.
- • Remain focused for prolonged periods; good depth perception and manual dexterity.
- • Comfort working at heights, climbing ladders, and performing physically demanding tasks; may lift up to 50 lbs.
- • Willingness to attend OSHA 10 and company safety trainings within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications
- • NCCCO tower-crane certification (required)
- • OSHA 10 (must be completed within 90 days of hire)
- • Able to pass criminal background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical (silica exam if applicable)
- • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
- • Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow safety directions in English; Spanish language skills preferred
