Full Time
Structured Cabling Technician
About This Role
Install, test and maintain low-voltage copper and fiber structured cabling in construction environments across New Mexico. You’ll work from plans and wiring diagrams to complete physical installs of cable, racks, cabinets and pathway systems, then test and document your work to meet quality and code requirements. This role is hands-on: expect ladder and scaffold work, conduit bending, pulling cable, and using both hand and power tools. Data-center experience is a plus. Candidates should have at least 2 years of related experience; NM ES-3 low-voltage license and BICSI/CNET certifications are preferred. Licensing costs for NM ES-3 can be reimbursed for candidates who don’t yet hold the license.
What You'll Do
- • Install and terminate category cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) and fiber optic cabling, including patch panels, racks, cabinets, and cable trays
- • Read and follow plans, wiring diagrams, and work orders to lay out and sequence installations
- • Assemble, test and certify cabling and connections using OTDRs, Certifiers and continuity testers; document test results
- • Pull cable through conduits and pathway systems; perform conduit bending and secure pathway hardware
- • Complete daily documentation: time reporting, productivity tracking and material quality control
- • Maintain a safe, code-compliant jobsite: follow procedures, perform preventive maintenance, and keep work area clean
What We're Looking For
- • Minimum 2 years of structured cabling or low-voltage installation experience
- • Proven ability to install, terminate and test copper and fiber systems
- • Comfortable reading prints, wiring diagrams and installation specs
- • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolds and perform repetitive motions
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
- • Commitment to follow safety procedures and local/state electrical codes
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • 2+ years related experience in low-voltage or structured cabling
- • New Mexico Low Voltage License (ES-3) preferred — reimbursement available
- • BICSI Installer certifications (INST 1 and INST 2) and CNET/CNCI preferred
- • Ability to read plans and use cable certifiers, OTDRs and hand/power tools
- • English required; Spanish a plus
What We Offer
- • NM ES-3 licensing costs reimbursed for candidates who don’t yet hold the license
- • Paid training and support for BICSI / CNET certifications
- • Overtime available on projects; steady construction work across the state
- • Tools and equipment provided or tool allowance (as required by assignment)
- • Competitive pay based on experience
