Electrician — Commercial (Healthcare Projects)

Myrtle Beach, SC $22-$28/hr

About this role

Seeking experienced commercial electricians to work on healthcare projects in Myrtle Beach, SC. You’ll install and maintain commercial distribution gear, emergency and standby systems, medical-grade wiring, lighting, and low-voltage/VDV systems on hospitals, clinics, and medical offices. This is hands-on field work: reading and following electrical drawings, coordinating with other trades and inspectors, testing and commissioning equipment, and following healthcare site rules (badging, immunizations, background checks). Expect project-based work with local job sites and a schedule that can include overtime when needed.

What you'll do

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot commercial electrical distribution equipment and overcurrent devices (panels, switchgear, breakers).
  • Install and commission standby and emergency power systems: generators, ATS/transfer switches, and emergency feeders.
  • Install medical-grade wiring, lighting systems, and low-voltage/VDV (voice/data/video) systems per plans and specifications.
  • Read, interpret and work directly from electrical drawings, schematics and as-built documents; make accurate field measurements.
  • Perform testing, commissioning and routine inspections; document work, complete punch lists, and support final inspections.
  • Coordinate with project superintendents, other trades and hospital/site representatives; follow site safety and healthcare-specific protocols.

What we're looking for

  • Proven commercial electrical experience with hands-on work on healthcare projects (hospitals, clinics, medical offices).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and technical blueprints.
  • Experience with standby/emergency systems, distribution equipment, lighting, and selection/installation of overcurrent devices.
  • Skilled with low-voltage and VDV systems (voice, data, video) and lighting installation.
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific codes and standards (NFPA 99, NEC Article 517) and local/state regulations.
  • Able to work on jobsite schedule, lift equipment, climb ladders, and follow site safety and infection-control rules.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman electrician license or equivalent commercial electrical certification preferred.
  • OSHA 10 (required) or OSHA 30 (preferred).
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to local Myrtle Beach job sites.
  • Ability to pass required background check and drug screen; meet healthcare site requirements (vaccinations/immunizations, badge access).
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 99 and NEC 517; experience with testing and commissioning procedures.

What we offer

  • Health plan options and other benefits (employer-provided where applicable).
  • Paid time off and holiday scheduling policies.
  • Overtime opportunities on project schedules.
  • Tool allowance or reimbursement for required personal tools and PPE.
  • Site-specific safety and training, plus support for certification upgrades.
