About This Role
Seeking a skilled, state-licensed Electrician for per diem work in Abilene, TX. You will plan, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on construction and industrial sites, working to plans, codes and accepted industry standards. This is hands-on field work: reading drawings, running conduit and wire, starting up systems, and inspecting work for safety and compliance. Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in changing weather conditions. Travel/per diem pay provided for site work.
What You'll Do
- • Interpret drawings, sketches and plans to determine work procedures, tools and materials needed.
- • Install, bend and thread conduit; pull and terminate cable; install wiring, raceways, fixtures, panels and control apparatus.
- • Test, commission and start up electrical systems; verify circuit continuity and component compatibility; troubleshoot and repair defects.
- • Work on both high- and low-voltage systems; install/select overcurrent devices and standby/emergency systems as required.
- • Inspect and correct subordinate work for compliance with plans and codes; point out deficiencies and take corrective action.
- • Operate hand, power, hydraulic and specialty electrical tools; follow lockout/tagout and site safety procedures; work at heights and in confined spaces.
What We're Looking For
- • State licensed electrician (Journeyman or higher) required.
- • Minimum 3 years commercial/industrial electrical experience — conduit bending, raceway and wireway installation, lighting and panel work.
- • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and schematics; measure and calculate materials and run lengths.
- • Experience with high- and low-voltage systems, troubleshooting, system start-up and overcurrent device selection.
- • Able to climb ladders/scaffolds and work at heights; able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in noisy, dusty environments.
- • Must pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing and fit-for-duty medical; must have required hand tools.
Qualifications
- • State Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or higher) — required.
- • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent field experience).
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to site; ability to work travel/per diem schedule.
- • Ability to pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing and fit-for-duty medical.
- • Must supply personal hand tools and basic PPE; OSHA 10 or 30, CPR/First Aid preferred.
- • English required; Spanish helpful.
