Electrical Journeyman

About this role

Join a power delivery crew in Lebanon, IN as an Electrical Journeyman. You’ll perform hands-on installation, testing, repair and preventive maintenance on electrical systems for a variety of projects, from services and lighting to motors, transformers and high-voltage equipment. This is site-based work that requires reading plans and work orders, using hand and power tools, operating testing equipment, and working with a team to complete safe, code-compliant electrical work. The role emphasizes practical skills, reliability, and following safety procedures on every job.

What you'll do

  • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances and fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers and other components; test circuits with ohmmeters, voltmeters and other testers
  • Install, repair and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights and other electrical system components, including high-voltage work
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work sequence and materials
  • Perform system tests and preventive maintenance; troubleshoot and replace faulty parts to restore service
  • Keep work areas and supplies organized, place orders for materials, and maintain a safe work environment following codes and procedures

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma or GED and minimum two years of related electrical experience
  • Trade or technical school coursework or completed apprenticeship preferred
  • Comfortable reading electrical prints, wiring diagrams and work orders
  • Proficient with testing equipment (ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes) and standard hand/power tools
  • Able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive hand/arm work
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

Qualifications

  • State Licensed Electrician (where required by law)
  • Forklift operator certification
  • CDL-A preferred or required for some roles
  • Apprentice aptitude testing or equivalent apprenticeship experience
  • Union training or documented trade-specific training and site/project-specific safety training
  • Ability to speak and understand English; Spanish is a plus
