Full time
Electrician — Substation / High Voltage Technician
About this role
Join a West Texas site team working on the Childress Data Center and regional power delivery projects. You'll install, test, troubleshoot and maintain medium- and high-voltage substation equipment with a strong focus on safety, quality, and reliable energization. This is hands-on field work: outdoor conditions, work at heights, and a construction schedule that may include overtime and weekend work. Candidates should bring substation or utility experience, solid troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to OSHA-driven safety practices.
What you'll do
- • Install, maintain, test and repair substation equipment: transformers, breakers, relays, capacitor banks and voltage regulators
- • Perform MV/HV cable terminations, splices, routing and grounding system installation
- • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams and shop drawings to complete installations and hook-ups
- • Support energization, commissioning, startup activities and post-commission testing and troubleshooting
- • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, quality checks and document work per site procedures and electrical codes
- • Follow site safety plans, lockout/tagout, confined space protocols and participate in toolbox talks and jobsite safety audits
What we're looking for
- • Proven substation, utility, industrial or high-voltage electrical experience working with MV and HV systems
- • Hands-on experience with cable terminations, splices, testing and system troubleshooting
- • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
- • OSHA 10 certification required and strong commitment to jobsite safety
- • Willingness to work outdoors at heights in varying West Texas weather and follow all site safety procedures
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 (required)
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • Preferred: NETA or trade certification, journeyman-level qualifications, and CPR/First Aid training
What we offer
- • Site-provided PPE and site-specific safety & orientation training
- • Health insurance options (medical, dental, vision) and paid time off
- • Travel/mileage reimbursement or per-diem for out-of-area assignments when applicable
- • Opportunities for overtime and extended hours on construction schedules
- • On-the-job training and opportunities for trade skill advancement
