About This Role

Estimator/Estimating Coordinator needed in Birmingham, AL to support quantity takeoffs, bid prep, and pricing coordination for commercial and residential projects. You’ll work with project managers, field crews, and subs to gather quotes, assemble bid packages, and keep estimating files accurate and up to date. This is a hands-on role for someone who reads drawings well, knows cost drivers, and keeps information organized under tight bid deadlines. If you’re detail-oriented, comfortable with Bluebeam/Procore and Excel, and can follow conservative, practical estimating workflows, this job fits.

What You'll Do

  • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and civil/technical plans using Bluebeam and other tools
  • Prepare and compile bid documents, scopes of work, and pricing sheets for submission
  • Collect, compare, and track subcontractor and vendor quotes; follow up to meet bid deadlines
  • Coordinate schedules and communication between estimating, project management, and field teams
  • Maintain organized estimating files, version control, and cost databases; update cost history for future bids

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years construction estimating or related construction office experience (commercial or residential)
  • Strong blueprint/technical drawing interpretation and civil drawing experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; experience with Bluebeam and Procore or similar estimating/PM software
  • Solid math and analytical skills; able to produce accurate cost estimates and scope definitions
  • Good communication and negotiation skills for working with subcontractors and project teams
  • Knowledge of building codes, contract basics, time & material tracking, and job cost reporting

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in construction management or estimating preferred
  • Proven experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel; Procore experience a plus
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
