Commercial Electrical Estimator
About this role
Join a preconstruction team in Greensboro as a Commercial Electrical Estimator. You will review plans and specs, produce detailed quantity takeoffs, build competitive bids, and coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing. This role covers the full estimating cycle and requires accuracy, good math skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. You will work with senior estimators on strategy and reviews, train and mentor junior estimators, and support design-assist phases. Expect a hands-on role that includes occasional site visits and regular use of estimating and drafting software (Accubid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Excel).
What you'll do
- • Review drawings, specifications and construction documents to produce detailed quantity takeoffs
- • Solicit, compare and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to build accurate cost estimates
- • Prepare complete estimates and unit-price breakdowns for review with Senior Estimators and Preconstruction leadership
- • Lead and train Junior Estimators—provide technical guidance, review takeoffs and mentor on estimating best practices
- • Participate in design-assist meetings and pre-bid reviews; revise estimates as scope or specs change
- • Visit project sites as needed to verify conditions and support preconstruction decisions
What we're looking for
- • Minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical construction estimating
- • Proficiency with Accubid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and advanced Excel (takeoffs, formulas, templates)
- • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, schematics, and specifications
- • Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- • Clear, professional communication skills for coordinating with vendors, subs and internal teams
- • Reliable time management and ability to meet strict bid deadlines
Qualifications
- • 2+ years electrical estimating experience (commercial/industrial preferred)
- • Proficient in Accubid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
- • Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Engineering preferred — or 5+ years electrical construction experience in lieu of degree
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local job sites
- • OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred
- • Strong blueprint reading and cost-estimating credentials
What we offer
- • Health, dental and vision insurance
- • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- • Paid time off and paid holidays
- • Paid training, software licenses and support for professional development
