Full time
Commercial Electrical Estimator
About this role
Join a hands-on preconstruction team in Greensboro, NC as a Commercial Electrical Estimator. You’ll run the full estimating cycle — review drawings and specs, produce quantity takeoffs, gather vendor and subcontractor pricing, and prepare detailed estimates for review with preconstruction leadership. This role requires technical estimating skills and practical field experience: you’ll periodically visit sites, participate in design-assist phases, and coach junior estimators to build their estimating and leadership abilities. Use Excel, Bluebeam, Accubid, AutoCAD and other tools to deliver accurate, on-time proposals for commercial projects.
What you'll do
- • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- • Solicit, evaluate, and reconcile vendor and subcontractor pricing to develop complete cost estimates.
- • Prepare clear estimate packages and unit-price breakdowns for review with Senior Estimators and Preconstruction leadership.
- • Lead and mentor Junior Estimators: review work, provide hands-on training, and support their technical and leadership growth.
- • Participate in pre-bid meetings, design-assist stages, and periodic jobsite visits to verify conditions and scope.
- • Manage estimate files, meet critical deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation for bids and internal reviews.
What we're looking for
- • 2+ years of electrical construction estimating experience in commercial projects.
- • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- • Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, Accubid, AutoCAD; familiarity with estimating/scheduling software is a plus.
- • Strong math, analytical, time-management, and written/verbal communication skills.
- • Ability to travel to local job sites and attend meetings as needed; must meet strict bid deadlines.
- • Team player who can take direction from senior staff and coach junior team members.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or Engineering preferred — or 5+ years’ electrical construction experience in lieu of a degree.
- • Minimum 2 years commercial electrical estimating experience.
- • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, Accubid, and AutoCAD.
- • Strong blueprint reading, cost estimation, and knowledge of building codes and specifications.
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
What we offer
- • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
- • Retirement plan (401k) availability.
- • Paid time off and paid holidays.
- • Structured training and career development to grow estimating and leadership skills.
- • Local work with occasional site visits and mileage reimbursement where applicable.
