Estimator — 3D Modeler (Trimble Business Center)

Nationwide

About This Role

We’re hiring an Estimator-level 3D modeler to build accurate digital terrain and construction models from survey and design data using Trimble Business Center (TBC). You’ll create and manage models used for material takeoffs, construction layout, and quantity estimation to help field crews and estimators get the job right. This is a nationwide, mostly-remote role with regular coordination with field survey crews and office estimating teams. You should be solid with AutoCAD/Civil tools, read and interpret plans and survey files, and be comfortable turning raw data into buildable models and layout files.

What You'll Do

  • Create and manage 3D terrain and construction models in Trimble Business Center from survey and design data
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare digital deliverables for estimators and takeoff workflows
  • Prepare layout files and stakeout data for survey/field crews; export models to field-ready formats
  • Import, clean up, and edit survey data, alignments, surfaces, and CAD drawings
  • Coordinate with estimators, project managers, and field crews to resolve model questions and update models based on field feedback

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience building 3D models in Trimble Business Center (TBC) or similar software
  • Strong drawing reading and blueprint interpretation skills for civil/site plans
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil drawing interpretation (Civil 3D experience a plus)
  • Strong math and analytical skills — able to work with coordinates, volumes, slopes, and geometry
  • Experience supporting estimating, takeoffs, and/or survey layout workflows
  • Attention to detail and ability to QA/QC models and deliverables before release to field

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in 3D modeling for civil/site construction or equivalent education (Assoc. degree or certificate in surveying, geomatics, civil tech)
  • Proficiency in Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred)
  • Experience working with survey datasets (GNSS, total station, point clouds) and CAD deliverables
  • Strong written and verbal English for clear field/office coordination
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites when required

What We Offer

  • Remote, nationwide work with occasional travel to job sites as needed
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance options (where applicable)
  • Software and tools provided (Trimble/AutoCAD licenses where needed)
  • Training and certification support for Trimble TBC and Autodesk tools
