Sheet Metal Estimator
About this role
Seeking a hands-on Sheet Metal Estimator to prepare accurate takeoffs and cost estimates for sheet metal scopes on commercial and residential construction projects across the country. You will quantify materials and labor, price equipment, and put together numbers that help win bids and guide field execution. This role works closely with project managers and field crews to confirm scope and pricing, supports bid submissions and proposals, and uses tools like Bluebeam and Excel every day. Competitive pay (DOE) and benefits; some travel to job sites may be required.
What you'll do
- • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for sheet metal work from plans, specs, and shop drawings
- • Develop complete cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted scopes
- • Prepare bid packages, proposals, and pricing summaries for tender submissions
- • Coordinate with project managers and field teams to verify scope, scope changes, and on-site conditions
- • Maintain and update unit cost databases, vendor quotes, and material takeoff records
- • Use Bluebeam and Excel to mark up drawings, create takeoffs, and format estimates
What we're looking for
- • Strong drawing reading and blueprint interpretation skills (civil and technical drawings)
- • Solid math and analytical ability to quantify and price materials and labor
- • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and installation sequencing for sheet metal
- • Proven experience in cost estimation and bid preparation for commercial or residential projects
- • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- • Comfort working with project teams in the field and office; reliable communication skills
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred) for construction safety awareness
- • Proven Bluebeam proficiency and advanced Excel skills
- • Degree or certificate in construction technology, estimating, or related field preferred
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits
- • Experience with commercial and residential sheet metal estimating
- • English required; bilingual candidates a plus
