General Laborer — Entry Level (Per Diem)

About This Role

Join a hands-on industrial construction crew in Abilene, TX as an entry-level general laborer. This per diem position is ideal if you want to start a construction career, learn on the job, and earn while you build real skills in a fast-paced site environment. You’ll assist tradespeople, operate basic hand and power tools, handle materials, and perform site cleanup while following clear safety procedures. What You'll Do

• • Assist skilled trades with tasks such as material handling, digging, shoring, and basic assembly work.
• • Load, unload, and stage materials; perform inventory control and track supplies on site.
• • Operate basic hand and power tools safely for cutting, measuring, and light fabrication.
• • Perform site cleanup, removal of debris, and temporary fencing installation to maintain a safe work area.
• • Set up and assist with traffic control and flagging as required by the site plan.
• • Support excavation/trench work under supervision and help with site layout and work inspections.

What We're Looking For

• • Experience loading/unloading materials and basic inventory control or willingness to learn on the job.
• • Ability to perform measuring, cutting, basic site layout, and follow work inspection instructions.
• • Comfortable operating basic hand and power tools and performing general site clean-up.
• • Able to follow directions from foreman/supervisor, work on a crew, and adapt to changing site needs.
• • Willingness to assist with temporary fencing, traffic control/flagging, and excavation support tasks.
• • Reliable transportation to Abilene, TX job sites and availability for per diem assignments.

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• • OSHA 10-hour construction safety card preferred or willing to obtain.
• • Flagging/traffic control certification a plus; training provided if needed.
• • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• • Basic English communication for safety and crew coordination; bilingual candidates welcome.
