General Labor Crew Lead — Exterior Renovations

About This Role

Experienced crew handler needed in the DMV area to lead exterior renovation projects. You should bring an existing small crew able to handle landscaping, patios, pergolas, concrete work, excavation and general site work. Work is based in Bethesda, MD and across the surrounding counties. This role is hands-on: you’ll manage the crew, perform and supervise installations and site prep, handle materials, and make sure projects finish on time and to spec. Competitive pay based on experience (DOE) and steady work across the region.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate a small crew on exterior renovation jobs across the DMV (landscaping, patios, pergolas, hardscapes).
  • Perform and supervise site layout, excavation, concrete placement and formwork, and hardscape installation.
  • Load/unload materials, operate/basic oversight of equipment, and ensure proper measuring, cutting, and fit-up on site.
  • Install scaffolding systems as needed and oversee safe demolition, trenching, and site cleanup.
  • Maintain quality control, enforce safety procedures, and keep projects on schedule with clear communication to crews and clients.
  • Manage materials, jobsite logistics, and basic site paperwork (time sheets, change notes, materials used).

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience leading a crew on exterior renovations: landscaping, patios, pergolas, hardscape and concrete work.
  • Skilled in concrete placement/formwork, excavation/trench work, and general concrete carpentry.
  • Proficient with site layout, measuring and cutting, loading/unloading materials, and basic scaffolding installation.
  • Practical knowledge of construction methods & materials, demolition, site cleanup, and residential/civil site work.
  • Able to operate or supervise common site equipment and coordinate labor to meet schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be based in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) and able to travel to job sites.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to haul materials/equipment.
  • OSHA-10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain; scaffolding certification a plus.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening where required.
  • English required; Spanish or other language skills are a plus.
  • Proof of crew insurance or ability to work as a subcontractor preferred.
