General Labor — Machine Control, Civil Survey & Heavy Equipment

Nationwide

About This Role

We’re hiring experienced hands for multiple civil and construction roles across the US. Openings include Machine Control Specialists (Southeast & North Central), Civil Surveyors (nationwide), and Heavy Equipment Operators (Texas, Southeast, North Central). Work will be field-based on road, utility, and site-prep projects using GPS/machine control and conventional survey gear. These are practical, steady roles for people who know equipment and layouts. Expect multi-day regional assignments, hands-on site work, and overtime. If you have land-survey skills, GPS/machine-control experience, and solid heavy-equipment operation or maintenance skills, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate GPS/machine-control systems for grading, paving, and excavation; run daily calibration and checks.
  • Perform civil survey tasks: control, topo, stakeout, as-built surveys, and field data collection with total stations/GPS.
  • Operate heavy equipment (grader, dozer, loader, excavator, paver) safely and efficiently for site prep and paving.
  • Read and apply civil drawings and plans to layout sites, slopes, elevations, and utilities.
  • Perform routine maintenance and pre-shift inspections on equipment; report defects and complete basic repairs.
  • Coordinate with foremen, survey crews, and utility locators on-site; maintain clear, accurate field records and logs.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience with land surveying and field layout on civil projects.
  • Minimum 2–3 years operating heavy equipment (grader, loader, dozer, excavator, or paver) with GPS guidance experience.
  • Hands-on experience with machine control systems, GPS rovers, and total stations.
  • Able to read and interpret civil construction drawings and grade stakes.
  • Practical knowledge of equipment maintenance and daily inspection routines.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions, lifting up to 50 lbs, and traveling for regional assignments.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel regionally.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; willingness to obtain OSHA if required.
  • Machine control/GPS or survey instrument certifications a plus (manufacturer or third-party).
  • Certifications for equipment operation (NCCER or equivalent) preferred.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Spanish-speaking applicants encouraged — bilingual skills useful on many project sites.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay plus overtime (paid at 1.5x) for long shifts and weekends.
  • Per diem and travel pay for multi-day/regional assignments; mileage reimbursement for work travel.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance options available after probationary period.
  • Paid training and certification support for machine control and equipment operation.
  • Uniform/boot allowance or tool stipend and company-provided PPE.
  • Referral bonuses, holiday pay, and paid time off accruals.
