Pipe Technician (General Labor)

About this role

Join a local heavy-civil crew in Baltimore, MD as a Pipe Technician (General Labor). This hands-on role is physically demanding and involves supporting pipe installation and site crews across Maryland. Expect work installing interior piping, performing concrete and metal cutting tasks, rigging heavy materials, and supporting scaffold and fall-protection operations. This is a growth role: crew members who show up ready to work and learn can move into more skilled positions through on-the-job training and site safety programs. The position comes with medical and retirement benefits, paid training, and steady local project work.

What you'll do

  • Install interior piping systems: flanged ductile iron, PVC glue-joint, copper, and stainless-steel press-fit per layout and field instructions
  • Perform concrete hammer drilling for anchor installations and concrete demolition using air and electric tools
  • Rig and move large/heavy materials using material handlers and cranes; assist with setting and aligning pipe
  • Erect scaffolds, operate manlifts, and work at heights following fall-protection procedures
  • Cut metal and pipe using grinders, portabands, and abrasive blades; maintain tools and equipment
  • Lift, carry, and secure building materials, maintain clean work areas, and assist crew as directed

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • 1–2 years construction site experience preferred; pipe, trench, or utility work a plus
  • Able to perform heavy physical labor, lift repeatedly, and work outdoors in variable weather
  • Comfortable working at heights and using power tools, grinders, and drilling equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Maryland job sites
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–2 years construction or pipe installation experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
  • OSHA 10-hour (preferred) or willingness to obtain
  • English required (able to follow written and verbal instructions)
