Full Time
Quality Director
About This Role
Lead and own the company-wide Quality Management System (QMS) across fabrication shops and industrial construction sites. You’ll build and run an ISO 9001-aligned QMS, lead multi-site QA/QC teams, and make sure work meets client, code, and regulatory requirements (ASME, AWS, API, OSHA). This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll travel to shops and job sites, run audits and inspections, drive root-cause and CAPA work, train and qualify field and shop staff, and act as the primary quality contact for clients and regulators. Competitive salary DOE — typical range $120,000–$150,000 + bonus and benefits.
What You'll Do
- • Develop and execute company-wide quality strategy, set quality goals, KPIs and reporting for multi-site operations.
- • Design, implement and maintain an ISO 9001-aligned QMS: document control, procedures, work instructions and audit programs.
- • Plan and lead internal and external audits, third-party certification audits, and site/shop inspections; manage NCRs and ITP enforcement.
- • Lead root cause analysis and CAPA processes; drive continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma methods and data-driven corrective actions.
- • Manage, mentor and schedule Quality Managers, Inspectors and QA/QC personnel; deliver training and qualification programs for field and shop staff.
- • Serve as primary quality interface for clients, inspectors and regulatory agencies; support pre-bid reviews, client audits and project closeout.
What We're Looking For
- • 10+ years in quality management within industrial construction, fabrication or heavy industry; 5+ years in multi-site leadership.
- • Proven experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 QMS and managing third-party certification audits.
- • Strong working knowledge of ASME, AWS, API codes and OSHA regulations relevant to structural steel, piping and mechanical projects.
- • Hands-on skills in drawing/blueprint interpretation, ITP development and enforcement, inspection/test planning and NCR management.
- • Experience leading root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean or Six Sigma).
- • Willingness to travel frequently to shops and job sites; valid driver’s license and ability to work in field/shop environments.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field (required); Master’s preferred
- • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (preferred)
- • Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or equivalent (preferred)
- • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (preferred)
- • OSHA 30 (required)
- • Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API certifications and client-specific qualifications
- • English (fluent); additional language skills a plus
- • Valid driver's license
What We Offer
- • Competitive base salary (DOE) plus annual performance bonus
- • Medical, dental and vision insurance with employer contribution
- • 401(k) with company match
- • Paid time off, holidays and travel per diem for site visits
- • Training and certification reimbursement (ISO, Six Sigma, ASME/AWS related)
- • Company-paid safety gear and support for OSHA-required training
