Paving Equipment Operator & General Laborer

About This Role

Asphalt paving equipment operators and general laborers needed for roadwork projects in and around Gulfport, MS. You’ll work on paving crews handling equipment operation and hands-on site tasks on city and highway paving jobs. This is outdoor, physical work on crews — operating pavers, rollers, loaders and dump trucks, performing site prep and cleanup, and supporting paving quality control. Competitive pay based on experience, steady local projects, and opportunities to run different equipment for strong operators.

What You'll Do

• • Operate asphalt paving machinery (pavers, rollers, screeds) and support equipment on paving crews
• • Load/unload materials, spot and grade aggregate, and assist with laydown and compaction
• • Perform general construction labor: digging, raking, sweeping, handwork and cleanup
• • Set up and maintain traffic control, barricades, and work-zone safety per directions
• • Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and report defects
• • Follow paving quality control directions for smoothness, grade, and compaction

What We're Looking For

• • Previous experience on asphalt paving crews or heavy civil construction
• • Hands-on operation experience with pavers, rollers, loaders, graders or dump trucks
• • Able to perform physical outdoor work in hot/cold weather and lift 50+ lbs
• • Dependable transportation to Gulfport job sites and ability to work a full shift
• • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekend shifts during paving season
• • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic background check

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license; clean driving record preferred
• • CDL (Class A or B) preferred but not required for some positions
• • OSHA 10-hour construction safety card preferred
• • Flagger certification and paving quality control technician credentials are a plus
• • Able to read basic plans, follow verbal instructions, and communicate on crew
