General Laborer

About this role

Join a local construction crew in Fairfax, VA as a General Laborer. You’ll support daily site activities—loading and unloading materials, cleaning and prepping work areas, and assisting tradespeople on both commercial and residential jobs. This is a hands-on role that requires teamwork, the ability to work outdoors in changing weather, and staying productive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Reliable attendance and a readiness to follow site directions and safety rules are essential.

What you'll do

• • Load, unload, move and stage materials and equipment on site
• • Perform site cleanup, debris removal and keep work areas organized
• • Assist carpenters, concrete crews and other trades with basic tasks
• • Prepare and maintain tools, equipment and basic jobsite barricades
• • Conduct basic work inspection tasks and report defects or unsafe conditions to supervisors
• • Follow site safety rules, traffic controls and directions from foremen

What we're looking for

• • Basic understanding of construction methods, materials and procedures
• • Experience loading/unloading materials and general site cleanup
• • Ability to work as part of a crew and take directions from supervisors
• • Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather and on projects with shifting priorities
• • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while maintaining focus on safety
• • Physical ability to lift, carry and move heavy materials throughout the day

Qualifications

• • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Fairfax job sites
• • Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and perform physical work for full shifts
• • Willingness to obtain site-specific safety credentials (for example, OSHA 10) and follow all safety procedures
• • Basic English proficiency for reading instructions and communicating on site
