General Laborer — Tunnel Project, Manchester NH
About this role
Join a tunnel construction crew in Manchester, NH as a Laborer supporting a major infrastructure project. This hourly, nonexempt role reports to the foreman and focuses on site safety, material handling, and tunnel maintenance. You’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople and get site-specific training for tunnel tasks. Day-to-day work includes cleanup and material handling, assisting with concrete and excavation tasks, and supporting tunnel operations including maintenance of utilities and TBM systems. Night and weekend shifts are required at times. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be authorized to work in the U.S.
What you'll do
- • Perform general site cleanup, debris removal, housekeeping and erosion-control tasks.
- • Unload and move materials; handle precast segment liners, pipes, cables, rails and deliveries.
- • Assist with hand excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling and concrete tasks (placing, vibrating, screeding, patching).
- • Assemble precast segment liners in the tunnel and perform general tunnel maintenance, including utility and ventilation support and grout system work.
- • Support TBM maintenance and tooling changes; hyperbaric TBM maintenance training provided.
- • Set up ladders and temporary protection, assist other trades, perform demolition and fire watch, and follow traffic control/flagging as required.
What we're looking for
- • Able to perform physical labor in varying and confined conditions; routinely lift up to 40 lbs.
- • Previous construction experience preferred; tunnel or underground experience a plus.
- • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and be on-call when needed.
- • Strong commitment to safety, follow foreman directions, and work as part of a crew.
- • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship).
Qualifications
- • High school diploma, vocational training, or relevant construction experience.
- • OSHA 10 (preferred) or OSHA 30 certification.
- • CPR and First Aid certification.
- • Qualified Rigger or Certified Rigger preferred.
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and verification of U.S. work authorization.
