General Laborer — Tunnel Project
About This Role
Join a busy tunnel project in Manchester, NH as a hands-on General Laborer. You’ll support site safety, handle materials, assist trades, and help maintain tunnel systems. This is hourly, nonexempt work with a practical, team-focused crew; start pay is $23.00+/hr DOE. Work includes day and night shifts, weekends, and on-call as needed. Training will be provided for tunnel-specific tasks including TBM maintenance and hyperbaric work. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be authorized to work in the U.S.
What You'll Do
- • Perform general site cleanup, debris removal, and housekeeping to maintain safe work areas.
- • Unload and move materials; assist with deliveries and material staging for crews.
- • Hand excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and support for concrete operations (placing, vibrating, screeding, patching).
- • Assemble and handle precast tunnel segment liners; maintain tunnel utilities, ventilation and grout systems; assist with TBM maintenance.
- • Assist with installation of drains, sewers, piping; perform demolition, fire watch, erosion control and traffic/flagging support.
- • Set up ladders, scaffolding, temporary weather protection and tend to other trades as needed.
What We're Looking For
- • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant construction experience.
- • Ability to perform physical labor in all weather and work on night shifts, weekends, and overtime.
- • Familiarity with underground/tunnel work and basic concrete, rigging, and material handling techniques preferred.
- • Strong commitment to safety; follow Foreman/supervisor directions and site safety plans.
- • Able to lift frequently up to 40 lbs and perform repetitive manual tasks; pass pre-employment drug screening.
Qualifications
- • CPR and First Aid preferred or willing to obtain.
- • OSHA 10 preferred; OSHA 30 is a plus.
- • Certified or qualified rigger preferred.
- • Ability to pass a drug screen and background checks as required.
- • Authorized to work in the United States; basic English proficiency for safety communications.
