General Laborer

About This Role

Join a tunnel construction crew in Manchester, NH as a hands-on General Laborer. You’ll support day-to-day site work—cleanup, material handling, concrete support, trenching, and tunnel maintenance—while working under a foreman on an hourly, nonexempt basis. Start pay is $23.00/hr DOE. This role involves working in changing conditions, including nights and weekends, and offers on-the-job training for tunnel-specific tasks such as assembling precast segment liners, tunnel utility maintenance, and TBM/hyperbaric work. Prevailing wage rates may apply on this public works project.

What You'll Do

• • Perform site cleanup, debris removal, and general housekeeping to keep the work area safe and efficient.
• • Unload and handle deliveries; move materials and tend to other trades as needed.
• • Support concrete operations: placing, vibrating, screeding, patching, and cleanup.
• • Hand excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and basic demolition tasks.
• • Assemble precast tunnel segment liners and assist with installation/maintenance of tunnel utilities, ventilation, grout systems, drains, sewers, and piping.
• • Assist with TBM maintenance tasks and prepare for hyperbaric work (training provided); perform fire watch and erosion control as directed.

What We're Looking For

• • Able and willing to perform physical labor in varying weather and underground conditions.
• • Previous construction, civil, or tunneling experience preferred (concrete, excavation, or utility work a plus).
• • Comfortable working nights, weekends, and on-call shifts when required.
• • Strong commitment to safety, following directions from foremen and working well on a crew.
• • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks as required for site access.

Qualifications

• • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant vocational/construction experience.
• • CPR and First Aid certification.
• • OSHA-10 required; OSHA-30 preferred.
• • Qualified Rigger or Certified Rigger preferred.
• • Authorized to work in the United States and able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
• • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and perform sustained physical work (walking, climbing, bending).
