Laborer - Tunnel Project
About This Role
Join a major tunnel project in Manchester, NH as a Laborer. Start pay at $23.00/hr DOE with prevailing wage work on a public infrastructure job. You’ll work with a crew to keep the site safe, moving materials, and supporting tunnel operations. This is physical, hands-on work. Day-to-day you’ll support concrete and excavation crews, handle precast tunnel liners and utilities, and assist with maintenance of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). Hyperbaric/TBM maintenance training will be provided for qualified team members. Expect nights, weekends, and on-call work as the project schedule requires.
What You'll Do
- • Perform general site cleanup, debris removal and housekeeping to maintain safe work areas.
- • Unload and stage materials; provide hand and equipment material handling for other trades.
- • Assist with hand excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling and erosion control.
- • Support concrete operations: placing, vibrating, screeding, patching and general forming support.
- • Assemble precast tunnel segment liners, install and maintain tunnel utilities (ventilation, grout systems, piping) and assist with TBM maintenance (hyperbaric training provided).
- • Perform demolition, fire watch, temporary weather protection setup, traffic control support, and other assigned duties during nights, weekends or call-outs.
What We're Looking For
- • High school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent construction experience.
- • Comfortable performing sustained physical labor in confined spaces, underground and outdoor conditions.
- • Familiarity with concrete work, hand excavation, trenching, and general construction tools (jackhammers, saws, drills).
- • Ability to work nights, weekends and on-call shifts as needed; reliable attendance and punctuality.
- • Strong safety mindset; follow instructions, use PPE, and work as part of a crew under a foreman.
- • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and follow all site safety and security rules.
Qualifications
- • CPR and First Aid certification (required or obtained upon hire if not current).
- • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred; OSHA 10 required for some assignments).
- • Certified Rigger preferred (training/credential a plus).
- • Authorized to work in the United States; this position is not eligible for sponsorship.
- • Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs regularly; able to climb ladders and work from scaffolding.
- • Able to read and understand basic English safety directions; additional language skills are a plus.
