Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About This Role

Join as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic supporting projects nationwide. You’ll perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy diesel and general construction equipment to keep machines running safely and on schedule. This is a field-first role: expect to work in onsite shops and yards, travel to project locations as needed, and collaborate directly with equipment operators and site teams. You'll document work, maintain tools and supplies, and follow safety procedures every day.

What You'll Do

  • Inspect, test and repair heavy equipment to meet performance standards
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and diagnose hydraulic, diesel engine, powertrain and transmission faults
  • Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance and adjust components as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized shop area; track and restock supplies and parts
  • Complete service reports, maintenance logs and equipment paperwork accurately
  • Work with site crews and supervisors; travel to project sites as required

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with heavy equipment or diesel mechanics
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites nationwide
  • Knowledge of diesel engine, hydraulic system, powertrain and transmission maintenance
  • Basic computer skills for work orders and digital reporting
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive hand/arm tasks
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; follow safety procedures

Qualifications

  • ASE certification preferred (diesel or heavy equipment)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid state driver’s license (clean driving record preferred)
  • OSHA 10 or similar safety training preferred
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check
  • English proficiency for safety and reporting (other languages a plus)
