Heavy Equipment Mechanic
About This Role
We’re hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Atlanta, GA to maintain and repair a growing rental fleet. This is hands-on work — you’ll diagnose diesel and hydraulic issues, perform PMs, turn over returned equipment quickly, and keep machines ready for the jobsite. You should be a practical, safety-minded technician who can work independently in the shop or out on service calls. Strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced environment are essential. Pay up to $37/hr based on experience.
What You'll Do
- • Perform timely turnover and repair of returned rental equipment to meet availability targets
- • Diagnose failures using schematics and troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and transmissions
- • Perform preventive maintenance inspections, PMs and documented repairs
- • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and service truck, including mounted equipment
- • Coordinate customer service and onsite service calls; represent the company professionally on site
- • Manage inventory: order parts, track commonly used items, and control shop supplies
What We're Looking For
- • 2+ years hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment or diesel machinery
- • Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to read schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic and engine systems
- • Experience with diesel engine, transmission and powertrain maintenance and repairs
- • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple jobs daily
- • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites; clean driving record preferred
- • Basic computer skills for work orders and parts systems (Wynne RentalMan and Coupa experience a plus)
Qualifications
- • Minimum 2 years as a heavy equipment/diesel technician or equivalent field experience
- • ASE Diesel or equivalent certification preferred
- • OSHA 10 (or 30) training preferred
- • EPA or emissions certifications (if applicable) preferred
- • Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
- • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, perform physical work and work outdoors in variable conditions
