Heavy Equipment Mechanic
About this role
We are hiring a hands-on diesel mechanic in the Houston, TX area to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment and trucks. Work includes shop repair, field service at construction and concrete sites, and routine preventative maintenance to keep equipment reliable and safe. Schedule is primarily day shift, Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime and on-call work for emergencies. This role requires solid diesel engine experience, electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work outdoors and on job sites across the Houston metro area.
What you'll do
- • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drive trains, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment and trucks
- • Troubleshoot electrical systems, power issues, fuses, starters, alternators, and control circuits
- • Service and maintain pumps, gas valves, fuel systems, and related mechanical components
- • Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled inspections, and safety checks; keep accurate service logs
- • Work on-site at concrete and construction jobs as needed, assisting with equipment setup and repair
- • Maintain parts inventory, record repairs, and communicate equipment status to supervisors
What we're looking for
- • Minimum 3 years experience working on diesel engines and heavy equipment or commercial trucks
- • Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems (pumps, gas valves) and electrical power/fuse issues
- • Experience with routine heavy equipment maintenance and diesel engine overhaul/repair
- • Comfortable working in shop and field environments, including concrete job sites
- • Able to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and follow service manuals
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to local job sites
Qualifications
- • ASE Heavy-Duty Diesel or equivalent certification preferred
- • CDL Class B or ability to obtain preferred but not always required
- • OSHA 10 (or 30) preferred; site-specific safety training provided
- • High school diploma or GED required
- • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
