Heavy Equipment Mechanic
About This Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Forsyth, GA to maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment. You’ll work in the shop and on job sites servicing hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems on major brands like Caterpillar, Liebherr, Xtreme, and Takeuchi. You should have 3+ years’ experience in a construction environment and be comfortable using diagnostic tools such as CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, and Diesel Laptop. This role is practical, busy, and focused on keeping machines running safely and on schedule.
What You'll Do
- • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on excavators, loaders, compactors and related equipment.
- • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses and fittings.
- • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, starters, alternators, wiring harnesses, sensors and controls.
- • Service and repair diesel engines and powertrain components including transmissions, final drives and axles.
- • Use diagnostic software (CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, Diesel Laptop) to identify faults and complete repairs; document work and parts used.
What We're Looking For
- • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic in a construction or rental environment.
- • Proven ability to maintain and repair hydraulic, electric, fuel/emissions and powertrain systems.
- • Experience working on Caterpillar, Liebherr, Xtreme and Takeuchi equipment.
- • Skilled with diagnostic systems: CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, Diesel Laptop or equivalent.
- • Able to perform preventive maintenance inspections and routine service (fluids, filters, belts, brakes).
- • Comfortable working in shop and field conditions; able to lift heavy parts and work safely around equipment.
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
- • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck or Diesel Technician certification preferred
- • EPA 609 certification for A/C systems preferred
- • 3+ years heavy equipment mechanic experience (construction preferred)
