Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Greensboro, NC $26-$36/hr

About this role

Join a hands-on maintenance crew in Greensboro, NC as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. You will maintain and repair a fleet of heavy machines and vehicles, run diagnostics, rebuild engines, fix hydraulics and transmissions, and perform on-site field service at job locations. This role requires travel to job sites, working in hot and cold conditions, and the ability to complete repair orders and maintain accurate e-logs/log books. If you have solid mechanical skills, welding ability, and at least five years of related experience, this is a practical, steady position with room to grow and advance.

What you'll do

  • Perform routine maintenance and scheduled service on company vehicles and heavy equipment
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, engine, transmission, suspension, and brake issues
  • Travel to job sites to perform on-site repairs in varying weather and jobsite conditions
  • Use electronic diagnostic systems, hand and power tools, and welding/flame-cutting equipment
  • Rebuild or replace engines and hydraulic pumps, correct electrical problems, and replace worn parts
  • Complete repair orders, maintain e-logs/log books, and follow safe driving practices

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 5 years job-related heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experience
  • Hands-on experience with engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and suspension systems
  • Ability to use electronic computerized diagnostic tools and read service manuals
  • Proficient with welding and flame cutting equipment, plus common hand and power tools
  • Able to travel to job sites, work outdoors in hot/cold conditions, and lift heavy components
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 5 years heavy equipment/diesel mechanic experience
  • Experience with small engines (generators, compressors) — preferred
  • Advanced training in electronic computerized diagnostics — preferred
  • Proficient in welding and flame cutting (certification preferred)
  • Valid driver's license
