Crane Mechanic — Per Diem (19/9 Rotation)
About This Role
Crane Mechanic needed in Los Angeles for a per-diem position working a 19/9 rotation. You’ll keep cranes running — performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical/hydraulic/electrical faults, and handling repairs to ensure safe, reliable lifts. This is hands-on field work. Pay is $30–$42/hr depending on experience. Expect to work scheduled 19 days on / 9 days off shifts, respond to breakdowns, and follow strict safety and critical-lift procedures.
What You'll Do
- • Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections and document findings for cranes and related lifting equipment
- • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on mobile and tower cranes
- • Conduct critical-lift component checks (hooks, wire rope, sheaves, brakes) and correct deficiencies before operations
- • Respond to field breakdowns and perform timely on-site repairs to minimize downtime
- • Keep accurate maintenance logs, report parts needed, and coordinate with parts/supply for replacements
- • Follow lockout/tagout, confined space, and site-specific safety procedures at all times
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience maintaining and repairing cranes or heavy lifting equipment
- • Hands-on skills in preventive maintenance inspections and mechanical/hydraulic troubleshooting
- • Familiarity with critical lifting components, rigging basics, and safety inspection criteria
- • Ability to work a 19/9 rotation, travel to job sites, and be available for on-call breakdown response
- • Physically able to lift, climb, and work at heights; reliable and safety-focused
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED preferred
- • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred)
- • Certified Crane Inspector (NCCCO) or equivalent preferred
- • Rigging and signaling training or certification preferred
- • English — required (ability to read reports and follow safety instructions)
