About This Role

Join a busy rental shop in Burlington, TX as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing construction and rental equipment, maintaining fleet vehicles and the service truck, and turning units around quickly and safely to meet customer needs. This role is hands-on: you’ll read schematics, perform mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs, manage parts and inventory, and coordinate onsite service calls. We’re looking for a dependable, organized technician who follows OSHA safety rules and keeps the shop and warehouse clean and ready to go.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues; read schematics and use diagnostic tools to repair construction and rental equipment.
  • Service and maintain fleet vehicles, rental units, and the service truck including mounted equipment and attachments.
  • Turn returned rental units around promptly: inspect, repair, test, and prepare units for rental.
  • Organize parts inventory, order commonly used parts and supplies, and keep the shop and warehouse clean and organized.
  • Coordinate customer communication and onsite service calls; document work, update maintenance records, and follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
  • Prioritize work orders and repairs to meet business goals and customer needs; perform basic welding and fabrication as required.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years hands-on experience as a heavy equipment, diesel or construction equipment technician.
  • Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic equipment, and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Own hand tools and ability to maintain service truck mounted equipment.
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with rental or parts software (Wynne Rental Man, Coupa) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in varied conditions, and follow OSHA safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • ASE, diesel technician or equivalent certification preferred
  • OSHA 10 (or willing to obtain)
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • English required; Spanish a plus
