Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Burlington, TX $24-$37/hr

About this role

We’re hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Burlington, TX to keep a growing rental fleet and service truck ready to go. This is a hands-on role focused on fast, quality repairs, timely equipment turnarounds, and clear communication with customers and crews. You’ll work primarily in the shop with regular on-site service calls. The right candidate is organized, safety-minded, and able to prioritize repairs to meet business needs and customer schedules.

What you'll do

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair construction and rental equipment using schematics and service manuals
  • Turn over returned rental units quickly — perform inspections, repairs and make units ready for rent
  • Maintain fleet vehicles and the service truck, including mounted equipment and basic shop systems
  • Organize parts inventory, order common parts and keep the warehouse and shop clean and orderly
  • Coordinate customer and on-site service calls and communicate status and ETA to dispatch and customers
  • Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines, document repairs and maintain accurate work records

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience as a heavy equipment or diesel technician
  • Ability to read schematics, diagnose failures and perform repairs on engines, powertrains and hydraulics
  • Own basic mechanic tools and demonstrate good tool organization
  • Basic computer skills; experience with rental or fleet management software preferred
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills; able to work alone or with a small team
  • Able to lift, climb and work outdoors in varied weather; maintain a clean and safe work area

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Own basic mechanic tool set (required)
  • ASE or diesel/heavy equipment technician certification (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 or 30 and site-specific safety training (preferred)
  • Forklift/hoist certification or experience (preferred)
  • English proficiency for reading schematics and communicating with customers
