Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About this role

We are hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic based in Chandler, AZ to support regular maintenance and repairs for construction equipment and cranes. This role is shop-based at the Solutions Center with travel to yards and jobsites as needed. You will diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel systems, operate and test equipment after repairs, and keep tools and equipment stored and maintained. Work is hands-on, safety-focused, and involves both shop and field work.

What you'll do

• • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, track, diesel engine and transmission issues on construction equipment and cranes
• • Operate, maneuver and test equipment on site after repairs to confirm safe, proper function
• • Perform daily equipment checks, routine maintenance, and document work completed
• • Order and manage parts, keep inventory and maintain secure storage of equipment
• • Maintain a clean, safe shop and worksite; follow and enforce site safety procedures and communicate equipment issues with supervisors

What we're looking for

• • 5+ years’ heavy equipment mechanic experience with a large construction contractor or similar operation
• • Strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting skills; experience with diesel engines and powertrain systems
• • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and perform function tests after repair
• • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to lift 50 lbs, squat, crawl and work in confined spaces
• • Must have own basic mechanic hand tools and be able to follow written schematics and service manuals

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license (required); clean driving record
• • TWIC card (preferred)
• • CDL (A, B or C) preferred
• • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
• • Proof of identity and work authorization; age 18+
• • Ability to complete site-specific safety training and follow safety policies
