Heavy Equipment Mechanic
About This Role
Join a field crew in Chandler, AZ as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic supporting yard and jobsite maintenance for a wide range of construction equipment and cranes. This hands-on role focuses on diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel systems. Pay is up to $45/hr and the position may require travel between yards and job sites. You will work directly on equipment — testing repairs, operating machines after service, ordering parts, and keeping the shop and equipment storage safe and ready for work. This is a practical, physical role for someone with strong mechanical skills and at least 5 years of heavy-equipment experience.
What You'll Do
- • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, track, diesel engine, transmission and powertrain issues on construction equipment and cranes
- • Operate, maneuver and test heavy equipment on site after repairs to verify safe operation
- • Perform daily inspections, maintain safe shop conditions, and ensure equipment is stored securely when not in use
- • Read schematics and wiring diagrams, accurately order parts, and document repair status for supervisors
- • Weld, fabricate and perform preventive maintenance tasks as needed
- • Travel to yards and job sites as required to support equipment needs
What We're Looking For
- • 5+ years’ heavy equipment mechanic experience with construction equipment and cranes
- • Strong troubleshooting skills for hydraulic, electrical and diesel systems
- • Ability to read schematics/diagrams and use diagnostic tools
- • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel to job sites
- • Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs, and work in confined spaces (squat, crawl)
- • Reliable attendance, ability to follow schedules, and work safely in fast-paced environments
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license (required)
- • TWIC card (preferred)
- • CDL A/B/C (preferred)
- • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
- • Welding/fabrication experience (preferred)
- • Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the U.S.; basic conversational English
