Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Chandler, AZ $29-$38/hr

About this role

Join a field service team in Chandler, AZ supporting yard and jobsite maintenance for a wide range of construction equipment and cranes. You’ll focus on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems to keep equipment operating safely and reliably. This role requires hands-on experience, the ability to operate and test equipment after repair, and a safety-first mindset. The position may require travel to jobsites and offers standard craft benefits including paid time off, medical coverage, and retirement savings options.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, track, diesel engine and transmission problems on construction equipment and cranes
  • Operate, maneuver and test heavy equipment on site to verify repairs and safe operation
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance; ensure equipment is safely stored when not in use
  • Maintain a clean, safe shop environment and follow site safety procedures
  • Order parts and maintain accurate repair records; read and interpret schematics and diagrams
  • Communicate equipment status, delays and repair needs clearly with supervisors and crew

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic in construction or a large equipment fleet
  • Strong hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine troubleshooting skills
  • Able to perform heavy lifting (50 lbs), squat, crawl and work in confined spaces
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; reliable transportation to travel to jobsites
  • Own basic mechanic tools and be able to work in a fast-paced, variable environment
  • Welding/fabrication experience preferred; able to follow schematics and wiring diagrams

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license (required); clean driving record
  • TWIC card (preferred)
  • CDL (A, B or C) preferred
  • Proof of identity and employment authorization
  • Minimum age 18+
