Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About this role

We’re hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic based in Channelview, TX to support yard and jobsite maintenance of construction equipment and cranes. You’ll diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine and transmission issues, then operate and test equipment on site after repairs. This role focuses on safe, reliable equipment upkeep for trucks, excavators, cranes and other heavy assets. The position may require travel between yard and project sites, and you’ll communicate equipment status, order parts, and keep daily inspection records. Safety, dependability and hands-on trade skills matter most.

What you'll do

• • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine and transmission systems on construction equipment and cranes
• • Operate and maneuver heavy equipment safely on site to test repairs and perform functional checks
• • Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance and ensure equipment is stored and secured when not in use
• • Maintain a safe, clean shop and follow site-specific safety procedures and lockout/tagout
• • Read schematics/diagrams, order parts accurately, document work performed and report equipment status to supervisors

What we're looking for

• • 5+ years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic working on construction equipment and cranes
• • Strong troubleshooting skills for hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine and powertrain systems
• • Able to operate heavy equipment safely and complete post-repair testing
• • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites
• • Able to lift 50 lbs, squat, crawl and work in confined spaces; dependable attendance and ability to follow a work schedule

Qualifications

• • TWIC card (preferred)
• • CDL (A, B or C) — preferred
• • Welding/fabrication experience or certification — preferred
• • Must be 18+ and able to provide proof of identity and work authorization
• • Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required
