Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Channelview, TX Up to $45/hr

About This Role

Join a field team in Channelview, TX as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic supporting yard and jobsite maintenance for construction equipment and cranes. You’ll diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine and transmission systems, then test and operate equipment on site after repairs. Travel to jobsites may be required. Pay is competitive — up to $45/hr depending on experience. This role requires a dependable, safety-first mechanic with at least 5 years’ heavy equipment experience, the necessary hand tools, and the ability to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, diesel engine, transmission, track and powertrain issues on construction equipment and cranes
  • Operate, maneuver and test heavy equipment on site after repairs to confirm safe operation
  • Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance; ensure equipment is safely stored and secured
  • Maintain a safe, clean shop area and follow site safety protocols at all times
  • Order parts accurately, read schematics/diagrams, and keep supervisors updated on equipment status
  • Document repairs, parts used and machine hours; report recurring issues or safety concerns

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years heavy equipment mechanic experience in construction or similar industries
  • Strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Proven diesel engine and transmission repair experience on heavy equipment
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel to jobsites
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, squat, crawl and work in confined spaces; able to follow a daily work schedule
  • Must supply basic mechanic hand tools to perform assigned work

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required)
  • Proof of identity and employment authorization (required)
  • TWIC card (preferred)
  • CDL A/B/C (preferred)
  • Welding/fabrication experience or certification (preferred)
  • Able to provide and maintain necessary personal tools
