Motor Grader Operator

About This Role

Experienced Motor Grader Operator needed in Williamsburg, VA to run and maintain motor graders on civil and commercial construction projects. This is hands-on work: grading roads, setting slopes, moving earth, and keeping equipment in safe working order. Pay is $25–$40/hr depending on experience. You’ll work with small crews, follow project plans and safety rules, and be expected to keep machines maintained and ready each day. Motorgrader or motor grader experience is required.

What You'll Do

• • Operate motor graders for grading, ditching, slope work, and finish grading according to project specs
• • Perform pre- and post-shift inspections and routine maintenance (check fluids, greasing, basic troubleshooting)
• • Read grade stakes, plans, and laser/electronic grade controls to achieve required tolerances
• • Coordinate with foremen, laborers, and equipment operators to sequence work and maintain site safety
• • Keep accurate equipment logs, report defects, and secure machines at end of shift
• • Follow all safety procedures, traffic control, and job-site rules while working around crews and public areas

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience operating motor grader/motorgrader on civil or commercial construction sites
• • Solid knowledge of grading techniques, slope control, and earthmoving basics
• • Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• • Valid driver's license and reliable work attendance; able to work outdoors in varied weather
• • Comfortable reading grade stakes, plans, and using grade-control systems

Qualifications

• • Minimum 2 years operating motor graders on construction projects preferred
• • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain
• • Ability to pass drug screen and background check where required
• • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; equipment certification (NCCER or similar) a plus
