Per Diem

Commercial Concrete Equipment Operator

Atlanta, GA

About This Role

Join a crew running heavy, specialized gear on high-production commercial concrete pours in Atlanta. You’ll operate laser screeds, telehandlers, forklifts, skid steers, loaders and power buggies on jobs like distribution centers, data centers and large industrial slabs. This is a per diem role with steady commercial work and opportunities for overtime. You’ll be expected to set up and calibrate equipment, perform daily safety checks and basic maintenance, and work directly with pour and finishing crews to keep pours moving and within tolerances. Open to workers willing to relocate — bring solid equipment skills and a safe operator record.

What You'll Do

  • Operate heavy and specialty equipment: laser screeds (boom, drive-in or walk-behind), telehandlers, forklifts, skid steers, loaders and ride-on power buggies.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment: laser alignment, screed head setup, grade referencing and machine positioning to match pour maps and elevation benchmarks.
  • Perform daily safety checks, document inspections, follow lockout/tagout and maintain full awareness in congested pour areas.
  • Coordinate with pour crews and finishers to maintain concrete flow and production pace; communicate with spotters and ground personnel via radio/hand signals.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance: check fluids, hydraulics, grease points, tires/tracks and clean equipment at end of shift; report issues to Foreman or Maintenance.
  • Support site logistics: move materials safely with equipment, assist mobilization/demobilization, and maintain safe equipment movement around grades and obstacles.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years operating heavy equipment on construction sites, preferably commercial concrete projects.
  • Ability to operate one or more: laser screed, telehandler, forklift, skid steer, loader or ride-on buggy.
  • Can read grade stakes, elevation controls and pour maps; understands concrete placement sequence and site layout.
  • Clean operator/driving record and ability to work per diem with travel or relocation as required.
  • Strong communication with crews and spotters; follow site safety rules and equipment protocols.

Qualifications

  • Forklift Operator certification (required)
  • Valid driver's license with clean MVR
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
  • OSHA 10 (preferred)
  • Conversational English for radio/hand signals and crew communication

What We Offer

  • Per diem pay plus travel pay for offsite jobs
  • Consistent, high-production commercial work (distribution centers, data centers, tilt-up slabs)
  • Overtime available on long pours
  • Hands-on equipment training and opportunity to run specialty machines
  • Tool/boot reimbursement or allowance (where applicable)
