Heavy Equipment Operator (Dozer & Excavator)

About this role

Heavy Equipment Operators needed in South Boston, VA to run dozers and excavators on grading and site development projects. You’ll be expected to operate equipment safely, perform daily inspections and routine maintenance, and help the crew meet production targets. This is steady heavy-civil work with a safety-first crew environment. Pay is competitive and based on experience. We’re looking for reliable operators with at least 2 years of dozer or excavator experience who take pride in clean, on-time work and follow directions from supervisors.

What you'll do

• • Operate dozers and excavators for grading, site prep, and general site development
• • Perform daily pre- and post-shift inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment
• • Grade to stakes and follow site plans and directions from foremen/supervisors
• • Support crews with manual labor tasks (flagging, clearing, cleanup) as needed
• • Keep equipment secure, report issues immediately, and follow all site safety rules

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience operating dozers and/or excavators on civil sites
• • Practical knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and daily inspection procedures
• • Ability to read grade stakes and follow layout instructions from foremen
• • Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to work in varied weather conditions
• • Willingness to follow safety policies and wear required PPE

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred
• • Equipment operator certification (NCCER or equivalent) preferred
• • OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred
• • Able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
• • English proficiency sufficient to follow safety instructions
