Heavy Equipment Operator — Per Diem

About This Role

Seeking experienced heavy equipment operators based in Cartersville, GA for construction and earthmoving projects across the Atlanta metro. This is a per diem position with daily travel to active job sites; you’ll run machines on roadwork, site prep, demolition, and civil construction jobs. Ideal candidates can safely operate excavators, graders, dozers, loaders and related equipment, perform basic maintenance and inspections, follow site plans and supervisor directions, and enforce safety rules. Pay range is $17–$61/hr plus per diem pay for travel days.

What You'll Do

• • Safely operate excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, skid steers, backhoes and other assigned equipment on active job sites
• • Follow site plans, marks, grade stakes and directions from supervisors to meet project specs
• • Perform daily pre-start inspections, basic maintenance checks and report any issues for repair
• • Load/unload materials, operate tack truck or dump truck as needed, and assist with site cleanup
• • Support demolition, scraper work and civil construction tasks while enforcing safety procedures
• • Communicate clearly with crew and supervisors about equipment status, site conditions and hazards

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience operating multiple heavy machines: excavator, grader, dozer, loader, skid steer, backhoe, dump/scraper
• • Hands-on maintenance skills: diesel and gasoline engine checks, powertrain and transmission basics, general heavy-equipment servicing
• • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, grading and civil construction site practices
• • Able to load/unload materials, operate tack trucks and forklifts as required
• • Strong safety focus — enforce site procedures, wear PPE and follow OSHA rules
• • Comfortable with demolition, site cleanup and working in changing outdoor conditions

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10 certification (required)
• • Bilingual: English and Spanish (required)
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
• • Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and background check
• • Available for per diem travel and variable work locations across the Atlanta metro
